This Month's Topic: Christian Service
Scripture Reference: 1st Peter 4:7-11
Discussion Objective:
This month's topic is Christian Service. we are not discussing ways to serve in the church but rather how to serve one another. While Christian service extends outside the church and very much into our daily lives, this month I want to focus on serving one another within our church family.
What comes to mind when you hear Christian service? Why do you think the word Christian is used to modify the term service?
7 The end of all things is at hand; therefore be self-controlled and sober-minded for the sake of your prayers.
8 Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins.
V7-8: What do you believe it is to be self-controlled and sober-minded for the sake of your prayers?
How could hospitality be shown with grumbling?
9 Show hospitality to one another without grumbling.
V9: Comments and/or follow up questions
Share how you have used your gifts to serve others.
10 As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace:
11 whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies — in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.
V10-11: What are some ways you can acts of service can give God the glory instead of focusing on the server or the act of service rendered?
Serve someone in our church with an act of kindness this week.
